My doctor told me on Monday the 14th that if I didn't go into labor by Friday the 18th that he would induce me. I was excited and had a few reservations too. I was so tired of being pregnant and lugging this extra weight around, sleeping was sucking and I was so very uncomfortable all around and having a scheduled delivery sounded very nice. I did also want to go into labor naturally, I always heard that if you are induced the contractions are worse and you are more likely to have a c-section. As Friday approached I got more and more excited and nervous. On Thursday night I got no sleep, too anxious about the delivery in the morning. We arrived at the hospital around 7:30 ish, I made Matt stop and get breakfast because I knew I wouldn't be eating for awhile. I got all suited in my really fancy hospital gown, and the nurse started the IV and the potssion (medicine that makes have contractions). My labor nurse was really great, very nice and and made things go very easy. The contractions weren't not actually that bad at first, very tolerable for the first few hours. Dr. Carrillo came in around 10 and broke my water and told the nurses he wanted to have a baby by 130 and we all laughed but I think he was serious!! After my water was broke things started chuggin right along and the pain started to get intense, so I called for some pain meds, they started with the easy stuff and I was able to get a little nap but then it was too much and I needed the epidural, STAT! Matt did comment how I was handling the pain a lot better this time around so at least I had that going for me! The anthisgelosit came in to save the day and boy was he a character. He wanted to be called Bob not Dr Bob but just Bob and was full of personality which at the moment I found really annoying but he had pain meds so I was nice. The epidural was in and things started beeping and the nurse was confused and tried to fix everything she could. She called Bob back into the room, turns out I needed a new epidural, which meant they would have to take out the one I had in and put a new one in, which scared me but I wanted the pain to go away so I was like lets do this. The second was not as bad considering my body was still a little numb from the first one, but once we got the second one pumping I felt so much better and was able to take a nap. The pain of getting the epidural is nothing compared to pain of contractions so for me it was a fair trade, a little pain now saves for a lot of pain later. The nurse told me I was dialating at a really good pace and it was looking like I was really going to have a baby by 130! In the delivery room I had Matt of course, my mom, matt's mom and step mom. People always ask why do you have all of those people in the room. Well I am all drugged up and I know they want to be there and for me it is not a big deal, I am just laid back that way. We had it the same way last time and everything went smoothly so why change things. Besides family is family and Bailey got to meet everyone as soon as she came into the world. So finally I get to full dialation and they are getting everything ready for the delivery and we are just waiting for Dr. Carrillo. Just so you know no epidural in the world will help with the pressure you feel when it is time to push so just prepare yourself! I am feeling strong pressure, I got my mom on the right and matt on left. Dr. Carrillo arrives gets geared up and we are ready to push. Two contractions and just a few pushes later Bailey is here! I literally pushed for like 5 minutes! I was like really she is here!!! I push for like a hour with Aubrey so I was so relived once it was all over. I got to hold Bailey for the first time it was the most awesome feeling. One minute she was in the belly next she is in my arms looking straight at me I can't describe the feeling but it is totally awesome, very emotional. Every body gets cleaned up , cameras are flashing and tears are flowing, tears of joy of course! When I had Aubrey she had to go to the NICU so I didn't get to hold her right away and really see her a lot, so I have been enjoying every moment of having Bailey with me! Let me tell you we had this baby by 130, Dr. Carrillo was right! After Aubrey I was so tired and zombie like, it was so weird that after I had Bailey I felt so good and ready to go! This labor was so easy and fast I am so glad I decided to induce, I now feel good about my decision. The first day at the hospital went by pretty fast lots of visitors and flowers and well wishes. When Aubrey meet Bailey for the first time, Bailey was already in the nursery but she took one look at Bailey through the glass and was like she is adorable!! Aubrey did really well with everything. She was a little freaked out to see a IV in me and having lots of people in one small room. By the second day she was so excited to see Bailey and hold her and touch her. So far we have no jealously but time will only tell. Just so you know Aubrey was spoiled rotten through the whole weekend by all the grandparents, so we are just making sure she has special time with us and Bailey and so far that has been working. Once the night came it was just me Matt and Bailey. I breastfeed Aubrey and I planned on breastfeeding Bailey too. The first time we did it she latched on so good! Breastfeeding has gone so good since. Of course I am a little sore but it is well worth it for the health of my baby and the hospital did such a good job helping me with any questions, everything was really natural. Only bad part about the whole experience was a little after the delivery once all the drugs had woren off I was still having contraction pain, the nurses could only give me pain meds in pill form. It took 30 minutes for them to kick in and let me tell that pain was almost the worst pain I have ever had, just constant stabbing in my pelvic area, but after the pain meds kicked in everything was fine and we where smooth sailing from there. My pain was under control and was time to get ready for our first night. I was a little nervous about having Bailey in the room all night, thinking I am not going to get any sleep. It turns out the nursery is awesome and will take the baby after your done feeding and let you sleep which was awesome! I decided to stay 2 nights. Matt didn't want to but I wanted to take advantage of the nursery, the jacuzzi tub and room service! I mean we paid for 2 nights, might as well! Sunday comes along, the doctor clears Bailey, she is perfect by the way, and Dr. Carrillo clears me and we are all packed up and ready to go. I got Bailey all dolled up in the car seat and we where ready to go. She did so good on the way home, just sleep the whole way!
The whole experience at the hospital went so smoothly and everything was so great I can hardly believe it. Bailey is so happy and healthy and so am I. We are one happy Baker Family!
